Creating with Words
and magazine publishing were all fields I could now explore.

Writing for the web
Writing web content appeals to my non-linear style of thinking. My ability to see the "big picture" and visualize all parts of a website has proven to be a valuable asset in the online copywriting I do for clients.

Search engine optimization, keywords, search-optimized press releases . . . all are key factors in getting seen on the web these days. But they're not enough. You need more than organic search engine optimization to keep visitors at your website.

You must have quality content: relevant topics, helpful tips, links to other pages on your site, links to affiliate sites. And the copy must be interesting . . . words that can hold a reader's attention. (That's where creative writing comes in handy!)

Experience
Prior to starting my company, Word Design, I worked for a wide variety of companies: legal, insurance, nonprofit, publishing, high tech. My titles included: reporter, photographer, editor, publications manager, and technical writer. I’ve written and edited hundreds of articles, dozens of ads, several user manuals,
and a variety of marketing materials for both large and small businesses.

Education
I received a BA in Mass Communications (emphasis in Journalism) from California State University, Chico; a certificate in Technical Communication from California State University, Sacramento; and a certificate in Web Technologies from the International Webmasters Association/HTML Writers Guild. I’ve also studied with American Writers & Artists Institute, and am a member of a local chapter of the Glazer-Kennedy Insider's Circle.

I soon realized there was a lot more to journalism than being a newspaper reporter. Photography, graphic design,
